Sing Blackbird is one of those places you walk into and feel instantly relaxed, inspired and at home. In fact, you’d never know that the space used to be used as a phone-sex centre!
With Tame Impala’s Innerspeaker on the stereo, I wandered around the three rooms of carefully edited men’s and women’s vintage clothing, shoes and accessories from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. This store definitely makes sure you don’t have that daunting feeling you can have when walking into some vintage stores (i.e. “where the hell do I start?!”). It is beautifully put together, so even if you’re not looking to buy vintage it’s still a fantastic store to look through.
Sing Blackbird also runs vintage and second hand flea markets, hosts movie nights and serves bloody marys Friday – Sunday.
If you don’t want to leave just yet (I didn’t want to in a hurry) you can sit in the Sing Blackbird cafe which is attached to the shop and sample locally produced coffee, home made cakes and vegetarian delights. Here you can sit and watch the world go by, or read any of the zines and books by local artists and writers.
This is not just any vintage store, and an absolute must-do if you’re heading to Berlin.
